Celebrating the return of TechHub Riga Monthly Meetups as in-person events, an educational discussion on cryptocurrency will take place on July 29th in Kronvalda bulvāris 4 courtyard. The discussion will aim to familiarize event attendees with traditional bank's views of the risks associated with the digital representation of value and blockchain as well as the cryptocurrency-based start-up's views on issues that need to be addressed when building one's business on cryptocurrency.
The discussion between Arnis Praudiņš, Head of Financial Crime Risk at Swedbank Latvija and Krišs Pujāts, co-founder at Gravity Team, a cryptocurrency startup, will be chaired by Lev Bass, a cryptocurrency expert. The panellists will seek answers to such questions as: is investing in crypto a financial suicide or a way to become a millionaire overnight? Are the lower transaction fees and very little regulation extra motivation for traditional banking to become more accessible and transparent? How should the lack of consumer protection be dealt with? How bad is crypto for the environment and why is Elon promoting a currency based on a meme?
The event will take place on 29 July, at 18.00 in the courtyard of Kronvalda bulvāris 4. The event language is English and the entrance is free of charge. Entry into the event will be allowed only for those with valid vaccination certificates and a passport or an ID card.
Meetups are supported by the Riga City Council and members of TechHub Riga - Gravity Team.
