〖 Join the Conversation | Focus Groups - The Collective Act 〗

What does it mean to care for others while also caring for yourself?

Are you a youth worker, teacher, facilitator, mentor, NGO worker, psychologist, social scientist, trainer, community organizer, or someone working closely with young people and communities?

Do you navigate emotional labour, burnout, uncertainty, group dynamics, conflicts, inclusion, support, or community care in your work?

Do you wish there were more spaces for reflection, emotional support, sustainable practices, and collective care within youth and community work?

Then we invite you to join one of our focus groups within The Collective Act project. 🦋

Together, we will explore the realities, needs, challenges, and support practices of people working in youth, educational, and community settings. The insights gathered will contribute to the creation of a reflective journal and support tools focused on:
🌿 mental wellbeing
🌿 reflective practice
🌿 emotional support
🌿 sustainable care
🌿 community empowerment
🌿 peer support and resilience

👉 We especially welcome people interested in creating inclusive, accessible, safer, and braver spaces for all bodies, identities, and experiences, and we strongly encourage participation from people with diverse professional backgrounds, lived experiences, and identities, especially those from underrepresented or marginalised communities.

💬 During the focus groups we will:

• Reflect on the emotional and practical realities of care and youth work
• Discuss wellbeing, burnout, boundaries, and support systems
• Explore what tools and practices actually help us sustain ourselves and our communities
• Share experiences, challenges, and hopes for more caring, intersectional and sustainable spaces
• Co-create ideas for a reflective journal designed for youth and community workers

🦋 What is the Collective Act?

The Collective Act is a long-term, care-centered Erasmus+ KA2 project that brings together youth workers, young people, and communities to explore mental health, emotional regulation, and peer support through non-formal education. Together with our partners, we create safer and braver spaces to connect with ourselves, each other, and the outdoors, using art, movement, dialogue, and shared experiences.

The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme, which is administered in Latvia by @jspa_latvia . It is a small-scale partnership programme, coming out of the collaboration between Active Rainbow and Peemoti Keskus / @peemotikeskus 🇪🇪.

Active Rainbow

We are an educational platform and community of people that celebrate personal growth and inclusivity. Our platform is open, accessible, and welcomes everyone who is interested in non-formal learning, mobility opportunities, and contributing their verse to society.

Active Rainbow was founded in 2014 and started at first as a self-organized initiative. Since 2020, it is an organization in Latvia.

Our team is active in the field of youth work and in the implementation of learning programs for the past 11 years, working on a local, national, European and international level. We have established and leading a sustainable network of organizations, collectives and informal groups working with LGBTQIA+/Queer Education, and sharing mutual values for increasing the quality of inclusive, intersectional, accessible and safe youth work.

[Our Vision] We contribute to the creation of a world where diversity is welcomed and celebrated as a value.

[Our Mission] We are committed to strengthen the implementation of Human Rights and improve the quality of LGBT+ spectrum education, by offering learning opportunities for people to grow and thrive.

Our motto is - learning made simple, yet significant.

[Our objectives]

  • Support (young) people in their personal and professional development - equipping them with lifelong skills
  • Offer safe and inclusive educational environments for everyone without discrimination, especially to LGBTQIA+ people
  • Promote and participate in the development of youth work and the training of youth workers and educators
  • Promote the initiatives of young people
  • Increase the visibility of non-formal learning as a type of activism
  • Offer and foster volunteering opportunities, building young activists and social changemakers
  • Develop and sustain an engaged and connected network of organizations, fostering international cooperation and cross-cultural exchange
  • Create a more inclusive and cohesive society to ensure equal opportunities for all to achieve full potential in life
