We are happy to share some great news with you: we are launching a new ESC volunteering project titled Green Growth, and we would like to draw your attention to this exciting opportunity.
In our region, we have organized several litter-picking events: sometimes we joined existing initiatives, and other times we were the main organizers.
From this year on, however, we would like to create a much more structured and comprehensive program. Our goal is not only to clean up our environment, but also to provide our community with the knowledge and awareness needed to understand the importance of protecting nature.
We aim to highlight how essential environmental protection is, as well as the value of developing a sustainable mindset and lifestyle.
The main aim of the project is to promote sustainability, environmental protection, and recycling together with 12 international volunteers in both rural and urban environments. The planned activities include workshops, short educational and awareness-raising campaign videos, as well as community clean-up actions.
Our key objective is to provide knowledge to young people who have limited access to such learning opportunities. Another important goal is to involve at least 200 local participants from rural areas during the project period. Together with the volunteers, they will clean the riverbanks, streams, and polluted areas of six nearby settlements, identified through previous assessments.
In addition, we aim to offer local young people the chance to get closer to the English language through non-formal education methods.
We are looking for young people aged 18–30 who are interested in sustainability and recycling, are not afraid to get their hands dirty, and are motivated to work with communities that have fewer opportunities. Ideal candidates enjoy teamwork but are also capable of implementing their own ideas independently.
The project duration is 15 days, excluding travel days.
Volunteers will be accommodated in a modern, well-equipped facility. During the project, participants will receive pocket money, food allowance, travel cost reimbursement according to ESC rules, and health insurance.
The food allowance amounts to EUR 139.95 for the full project period and will be paid on the first project day. Travel costs will also be reimbursed at the beginning of the project, in line with ESC regulations.
The project will take place in Transylvania, Romania, in the town of Székelykeresztúr ( Cristuru Secuiesc), a culturally and historically rich small town with a predominantly Hungarian-speaking population.
Volunteers will be supported by an experienced mentor who will help them integrate into the local community and organize leisure-time activities. The project will be coordinated by two project coordinators to ensure smooth implementation.
Participants will take part in non-formal education-based training, focusing on the main project topics, as well as basic Hungarian language sessions. Some training activities will start online before the project, followed by an on-arrival training and a final evaluation training at the end of the project.
