The Scholarship Programme is a 5 week further training program taking place every year in July - August in Vienna in the frame of IMPULSTANZ - Vienna International Dance Festival. The Program offers young professional dancers and choreographers from mainly European but also non-European countries the possibility to take part in an intense multinational further training program.

Details

The program focuses on the exchange of ideas and knowledge, not limited by national borders, on concentrated further training, on meeting with internationally renowned artists gathering at ImPulsTanz with the aim to orient the career of the participants.

In order to achieve both its educational and artistic goals, the scholarship recipients are accompanied each year by artistic mentors selected amongst dance personalities, who have played a decisive part on an international level in the development of contemporary dance in recent years. danceWEB Scholarships further supports the training programme for emerging choreographers ATLAS – create your dance trails.

How do I apply?

The danceWEB Scholarship Programme 2022 is taking place from 06 July to 10 August, 2022. We do only accept applications through our online application tool. The application tool is open from the beginning of November until 17 December 2021, noon, Central European Time! Incomplete or late applications as well as applications via e-mail, post or fax will not be considered!

WHEN to apply?

The application for the danceWEB Scholarship Programme 2022 is available as of November 2021 and open until 17 December 2021, noon, Central European Time! We recommend not to wait until the last 24 hours to submit the application in order to avoid technical problems due to server overstrain.

You are informed about the results of the selection process by the end of February 2022 via email the latest.

What does the application consist of?

The application consists of an application form (pdf) that you need to download from the website, fill in and upload again to the website.

This application form consists of 4 parts:

  1. Personal Data
  2. Artistic Career (Education & Training/Performance activities)
  3. Artistic Statement (English)

You have to upload the application form together with the further following documents (Allowed file formats are: doc, rtf, pdf or jpg. Max. filesize is 1MB):

  • at least 1 recommendation letter (English) (maximum 3)
  • 2 recent photos (portrait & artistic photo)
  • current Curriculum Vitae (English), maximum 2 pages

Please note: you are not obliged to fill in every box of the pdf application form! please fill in only those boxes that apply to you! It's more about personal significance than quantity!

When filling in the application pdf form, make sure to respect the character limitations in the boxes. The applications are printed out, information that only appears in the boxes by scrolling down is not on the print and can therefore not be considered.

Dancers and choreographers with decidedly professional ambitions from European, Eastern European and non European countries, preferably between 22 and 30 years of age (no rule, but a guideline!) and a good knowledge of English. The working language of the program is English!

A scholarship includes the following free services:
  • free participation in the ImPulsTanz Research Projects (Pro Series & Field Projects)
  • free participation in the ImPulsTanz workshops
  • free admission to all performances of ImPulsTanz
  • free accommodation in Vienna for the entire duration of the program (5 weeks)
  • artistic accompaniment by the artistic mentors
  • exchange of ideas and contact with the international guests at ImPulsTanz
  • lectures
  • representation in the yearly growing, international danceWEB-database
  • opportunity of building up international networks

The scholarship does not include travel, per diem, visa and insurance expenses! These expenses need to be covered by the scholarship recipients themselves!

If selected for the danceWEB Scholarship Programme, the scholarship recipients still need to find a financial contribution (EUR 2.150,-) to their total scholarship expenses from national/regional funding institutions in their home country/country of residence in order to secure their participations.
