🌿 Want to spend a summer unplugging, getting your hands dirty, and living in nature?
Join HUMUS, a one-month ESC volunteering Teams project in the Romanian countryside, where you'll connect with others through collective work, creativity, and rural living. Hosted by Friends of Children in Romania, this project is rooted in sustainability, cultural exchange, and shared experiences.
🌾 What this experience is all about:
You’ll live in a peaceful rural area, working outdoors, sharing daily tasks, and contributing to the wellbeing of the local community while exploring ecological and low-impact lifestyles.
✨ What You’ll Do:
Gardening, composting, and foraging
Maintenance and eco-construction work
Creative activities with children and young people
Cooking, preserving food, and collective living tasks
DIY, storytelling, and hands-on workshops
🧭 This program is for you if you are:
18–30 years old
Legally residing in an EU or Erasmus+ partner country
Curious about eco-living, group work, and nature-based practices
No previous experience needed—just motivation to learn and share!
▴ At Active Rainbow, we’re excited to share this opportunity created by our partners at Friends of Children in Romania, a team committed to building bridges between youth, nature, and local communities. ▴

We are an educational platform and community of people that celebrate personal growth and inclusivity. Our platform is open, accessible, and welcomes everyone who is interested in non-formal learning, mobility opportunities, and contributing their verse to society.
Active Rainbow was founded in 2014 and started at first as a self-organized initiative. Since 2020, it is an organization in Latvia.
Our team is active in the field of youth work and in the implementation of learning programs for the past 11 years, working on a local, national, European and international level. We have established and leading a sustainable network of organizations, collectives and informal groups working with LGBTQIA+/Queer Education, and sharing mutual values for increasing the quality of inclusive, intersectional, accessible and safe youth work.
[Our Vision] We contribute to the creation of a world where diversity is welcomed and celebrated as a value.
[Our Mission] We are committed to strengthen the implementation of Human Rights and improve the quality of LGBT+ spectrum education, by offering learning opportunities for people to grow and thrive.
Our motto is - learning made simple, yet significant.
